Tourist Visa (DL)
The standard single- or multiple-entry tourist visa for UK nationals visiting Vietnam for leisure, family visits, or short exploratory trips. Available as 30-day or 90-day variants. Note that UK citizens can also enter visa-free for up to 45 days.
Requirements
- Valid UK passport with at least 6 months remaining validityCRITICAL
- Completed visa application form (NA1)
- Two recent passport-sized photographs (4x6 cm, white background)
- Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter)
- Return or onward flight ticket
Application Steps
Gather documents
Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned entry date and prepare all required documents.
Apply at the Vietnamese Embassy in London
Submit your application in person or by post to the Embassy of Vietnam at 12 Victoria Road, London W8 5RD. Standard processing takes 5-7 working days.
Pay the visa fee
Pay the applicable fee by postal order or bank transfer. Single-entry 30-day visas start at around GBP 55; 90-day multiple-entry visas cost more.
Collect your passport
Collect your passport with the visa sticker from the embassy, or have it returned by recorded delivery.
Enter Vietnam
Present your passport and visa at immigration on arrival. You may be asked to show proof of accommodation and onward travel.
Tips
- 💡UK nationals can enter visa-free for up to 45 days (extended from 30 days in August 2023). This is ideal for a short recce trip before committing to a longer visa.
- 💡If you overstay, fines start at 800,000 VND per day and can lead to a temporary entry ban.
- 💡Multiple-entry variants allow you to leave and re-enter Vietnam during the visa validity period, which is handy for border runs to neighbouring countries.
