Visa Guides
Everything UK citizens need to know about visas for Vietnam and Thailand. Requirements, costs, application steps, and expert tips.
Vietnam
5 visa types
Vietnam offers a growing range of visa options for UK nationals, from straightforward e-visas for short stays to business visas and temporary residence cards for long-term relocation. Since August 2023, UK passport holders enjoy visa-free entry for up to 45 days, making initial reconnaissance trips simple. For longer stays, the e-visa (up to 90 days) and business visa are the most common routes. Note: Vietnam does not currently have an official digital nomad visa — remote workers typically use repeated e-visas or business visas.
Thailand
6 visa types
Thailand is one of the most popular relocation destinations for UK nationals, offering a mature visa ecosystem that caters to tourists, retirees, digital nomads, and long-term residents alike. UK passport holders enjoy visa-exempt entry for up to 60 days (extendable by 30 days). Since May 2025, all arrivals must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before entry. Recent policy additions including the Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa and the expanded Thailand Privilege programme have made it easier than ever to establish a legal, long-term base.
