Business Visa (DN)
Designed for UK nationals conducting business activities in Vietnam, including meetings, conferences, market research, and establishing commercial operations. Requires sponsorship from a Vietnamese entity. This is also the most common visa route for remote workers, as Vietnam does not currently offer a dedicated digital nomad visa.
Requirements
- Valid UK passport with at least 6 months remaining validityCRITICAL
- Sponsorship letter from a registered Vietnamese company or organisationCRITICAL
- Completed visa application form (NA2)
- Two recent passport-sized photographs (4x6 cm, white background)
- Business invitation letter detailing the purpose and duration of the visit
- Proof of company registration in the UK (for self-employed or business owners)
Application Steps
Secure a Vietnamese sponsor
Your Vietnamese business partner, client, or employer must register a sponsorship application with the Immigration Department on your behalf.
Obtain the approval letter
The Immigration Department will issue a visa approval letter (usually within 5-7 working days) which your sponsor forwards to you.
Apply at the embassy or on arrival
With the approval letter, apply at the Vietnamese Embassy in London, or collect the visa on arrival at a Vietnamese international airport.
Pay the visa fee
Pay the stamping fee at the airport (if visa on arrival) or the processing fee at the embassy. Costs vary by duration and number of entries.
Register with local police
Within 24 hours of arriving at your accommodation, ensure your host or hotel registers your stay with the local ward police.
Apply for a work permit if needed
A DN visa alone does not permit employment. If you will be working (not just attending meetings), your employer must separately apply for a work permit.
Tips
- 💡The business visa does not automatically grant the right to work. For actual employment you will also need a work permit, which your employer must arrange.
- 💡Many remote workers and digital nomads use the DN visa as their long-stay option, since Vietnam has no official digital nomad visa as of 2026.
- 💡Renewals and extensions are much easier to process while you are inside Vietnam — do not let your visa expire before starting the extension.
- 💡Keep multiple printed copies of your approval letter; immigration officers at land borders may not have electronic records.
