UK passport holders also benefit from a 60-day visa-exempt entry for tourism purposes. Note: since May 2025, all arrivals must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before travel.

Application Steps

1

Complete the TDAC

Before travelling, complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th. This has replaced the paper TM.6 arrival/departure card since May 2025.

2

Check if you need a visa

UK nationals can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 60 days for tourism. If you need longer, apply for a tourist visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in London.

3

Prepare your application (if needed)

Complete the visa application form and gather supporting documents including flight bookings, hotel reservations, and bank statements.

4

Submit at the Thai Embassy

Apply in person or by post at the Royal Thai Embassy, 29-30 Queens Gate, London SW7 5JB. Processing takes 2-3 working days for in-person applications.

5

Enter Thailand

Present your passport, TDAC confirmation, and visa (or enter visa-free) at immigration. Officers may ask to see proof of onward travel and sufficient funds.

6

Extend if needed

Visit any Thai Immigration office before your permitted stay expires to apply for a 30-day extension (costs 1,900 THB).

Tips

  • 💡The 60-day visa-exempt entry is usually sufficient for a recce trip. You can extend it once for 30 additional days at any Immigration office for 1,900 THB.
  • 💡Thailand strictly enforces overstay penalties: 500 THB per day (capped at 20,000 THB), potential detention, and possible blacklisting for long overstays.
  • 💡If you plan multiple visits, a multiple-entry tourist visa (valid for 6 months) offers better value than repeated single entries.
